Southwest 40 knots but 50 knots offshore,easing to 30 knots but 40 knots offshore tonight, to 15 knots but 25 knots offshore early morning, and to variable 10 knots everywhere late morning. Becoming northwest 25 knots but 35 knots about East Cape Thursday afternoon, and rising to 35 knots but 45 knots in north at night. Sea high at times. Southwest swell rising to 4 metres for a time. Fair visibility in showers, clearing overnight.

Outlook following 3 days: Northwest 45 knots about East Cape with high sea and 35 knots elsewhere, changing Friday morning to westerly 25 knots everywhere. Easing early Sunday to northwest 15 knots, then rising later Sunday to northerly 25 knots. Moderate southwest swell easing Friday.
